Seconded — Privacy Policy

Seconded lets two people lock in a plan — and gives every plan a mutual escape hatch: if both people privately opt out, the plan cancels and both find out. If only one does, no one ever knows. That promise shapes how we handle data.

What we collect

• A first name you type — shown to the person you make plans with. No account is required; an email address is optional.
• An email address, only if you give us one — used to send you the reminder before a plan, the note the morning after, and the moment a plan is off. If you give it to us from the website rather than inside a plan, we’ll also use it to tell you when the app is available — and nothing else. It is never shown to the other participant, never sold, and never shared. Every email carries a one-tap unsubscribe that works without signing in, and unsubscribing deletes the address immediately.
• Plan details — title, emoji, optional date and place — visible only to the plan's two participants.
• An anonymous identifier created by Firebase Authentication to associate you with your plans.
• A push notification token, if you allow notifications in the app.
• Private opt-out choices ("bail" votes) — stored server-side only, never readable by the other participant, and permanently deleted when a plan resolves (cancels, expires, or is called off).

What we don't do

• No ads, no trackers, no third-party analytics.
• We count four things on the marketing page, and only there: that the page was opened, that someone tapped “Make a plan”, that someone tapped to get the app, and that someone left an email address. Each one adds 1 to a daily total — there is no cookie, no identifier, no session, no IP address, no referrer, and no record of an individual visit. Nothing is counted anywhere inside a plan, and we honour Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control.
• No tracking pixels or remote images in our emails — nothing in a message reports back that you opened it.
• We never sell or share your information.
• The other participant can never see a one-sided opt-out — not in the app, not from us, not ever.

Where data lives

Data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Functions) in the United States. Transport is encrypted (HTTPS).

If you give us an email address, messages are sent through Resend, our mail provider. They receive the address and the message; nothing about your private opt-out choices ever reaches them.

When a plan has a place, the app asks Apple Maps to find it so it can draw a small map. Apple receives the text you typed — nothing about the plan, the date, or the people in it.

Retention & deletion

Opt-out votes are deleted automatically when a plan resolves. Plans and names persist so both participants can see their history. Unsubscribing deletes your email address immediately — we keep no suppression list. To request deletion of everything associated with you, contact us.
